5 Ways To Get The Most Value Out Of OX

For those who know, there is already value built into the fee schedule at OX.  But let’s look a little deeper at how people could get even more value.

1. Real world-class tables in a spacious and clean environment

It is clear there is no better place to play on world-class pool, snooker, and Chinese 8-ball tables in Seattle.  By world-class we mean OX is the only club in the city where you can find the same tables used on The World Snooker Tour, The Mosconi Cup and World Cup Of Pool, and the Chinese 8-Ball Tour. And with a fee schedule that allows a group of four players to play for as little as $3/hr and at most $5/hr— ($12/hr during happy hour divided by 4 people, and $20/hr during weekend nights divided by 4 people.)

Since the maximum number of players per table is four, the hourly fee can be shared between four players. And to take advantage of the table all by yourself in a spacious, clean, and professional setting, you still get your money’s worth.  And yet, as the title suggests, there are still four other ways to get value out of OX.

2. Become a member

The number one reason people become members is to save money because OX Members enjoy a 20% discount on public rates. The second most common reason is 24/hr access, but then again after hour rates are only $8/hr and you can bring a plus one— so, membership is about saving money.

Currently, OX has two Members Only days— Mondays and Wednesdays. So, only members and their one guest can come in and play for $8/hr any time of day. In addition, members also get early notice of upcoming events like tournaments, leagues, and exhibitions. Members’ parties are free to members and guests. At the parties, there is free play, an open bar, and catered food. Join OX and become a part of the OX family. Email mike@oxbilliards.com to get started.

3. Join a league at OX

OX appreciates league play because it builds skill, camaraderie, and growth. Playing with friends and practicing is great, but league play puts added team pressure which can get the heart rate up. It also shows you how much you have improved over time, which is an important part of mastery- measuring success.

You will save money by playing in a league because your dues and greens fees are well below the hourly rate, and you get to meet like-minded people, have fun, and compete.  Often times during league play OX will set aside an extra table for players to keep warm while they wait for their match.

You will find an APA, BCA, and Washington State Snooker League (WSL) at OX.  We currently host BCA on Sunday afternoons and APA Masters on Sunday evenings. On Tuesdays, we host APA 8-ball and 9-ball leagues. And on Thursdays, we are starting an APA 9-ball league— teams forming now!  For APA leagues contact tmackel@apaleagues.com for BCA leagues contact christian@oxbilliards.com and for the WSL contact mike@oxbilliards.com

4. Play in a tournament at OX

Think of tournaments as concentrated leagues because the savings are very similar due to the greens fees being much lower than the hourly rate. Tournaments are a high-stress situation that can’t be replicated during play or practice. They are like the final exam if league play was the coursework. Because of our space and tables, we attract very good players, you will be meeting and playing against some good players and good people.

Our typical pool tournaments are on Wednesdays. Follow us on Facebook to find out current info. Or, join the Washington State Snooker and Pool Group on Facebook to get a closer look at what is happening in pool and snooker around WA State.

5. Take a lesson at OX

Efficient use of time is a great way to get value out of anything. OX offers lessons for beginners and all they pay is the hourly rate.  We offer lessons on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. To arrange a lesson email mike@oxbilliards.com to schedule a time.  We recommend 2-hour lessons to give proper time to evaluate, play, do drills, and repeat.  We can accept up to two beginners per lesson, so bring an interested friend and split the cost.

Lessons are great because there is someone there to give you immediate feedback, measure your improvements, and cheer you on— or keep you accountable.

OX is here to promote cue-sports and raise the standard in Seattle and the PNW.  Be a part of the cues-ports revolution. See you soon.
